Granit Xhaka has now signed for Bayer Leverkusen, ending his spell with Arsenal. He has agreed a contract until 2028 with the Bundesliga club, who will pay €25 million for his signature.

He has had a rather turbulent time with the Gunners, with discipline issues getting the better of him on several occasions. However, he has emerged as a key figure this season and has been one of the most important factors behind the club’s title challenge. Xhaka was also named club captain for a while, but eventually passed on the armband to Aubameyang, and now, Martin Odegaard.

His deal with Arsenal will be running out in 2024, and they will be cashing in on him rather than trying to negotiate further. He has managed to discipline himself much better this season, and could be a valuable addition to Xabi Alonso’s side next season.

Xhaka will be wearing his favoured number 34 kit at Bayer Leverkusen as well, as revealed in the official presentation.

Arsenal have agreed terms with Declan Rice to replace the outgoing Xhaka. The West Ham United captain will become the most expensive Englishman and Arsenal’s most expensive signing of all-time once he completes the move to North London for £105 million.
