GoPro Teases HERO13 Black Series: Two Models, Budget-Friendly Option, and Key Specs Revealed

The new action cameras, part of the HERO13 Black series from GoPro would be launched on 4th September. It is the continuation of GoPro’s annual update cycle that began last year with leaks and the launch of Black HERO12. A new range that will be unveiled only a year after the launch of the HERO12 Black.

The All New GoPro HERO13 Black Series

In a recent teaser posted on X, GoPro showcased two versions of the HERO13 Black. The main product is going to succeed the HERO12 Black, pointing said lens front and center alongside a secondary display while moving the rest of its screen real estate all back. Looking at another angle, we can see this model will closely follow the design and functionality of its predecessor.

What’s more, GoPro is going to be rolling out a marginally cheaper version of the HERO13 Black. This variant is expected to feature a Micro-LED display panel and will probably ditch the front screen for cheaper pricing, as well as it could be more compact than the standard model. It is expected to feature high-end specs but will be priced more affordably and a few aspects may get compromised considering the affordable price tag.

GizmoChina reports that the HERO13 Black should keep the 27MP sensor from the HERO12, meaning there may not be any resolution or framerate improvements. It is also estimated to be 5.3K at 60FPS for the highest resolution supported by that camera sector over all cameras so far in this tech showcase race. However, GoPro may enhance accessory compatibility to improve the overall imaging and video capture experience.

There might also be a minor battery upgrade in the HERO13 Black compared to its predecessor. Pricing is projected to start at $399.99 for the new HERO13 Black, while the HERO12 Black could remain available separately. Currently, the HERO12 Black is listed at $299 on Amazon, reflecting a 25 percent discount, with its accessories bundle priced at $399.
