This year we have seen a lot of leaks about the upcoming technologies. But a recent leak has many tech enthusiasts running to Walmart. Google’s new 2nd Gen Chromecast device details have once again been leaked online, but this time is a whole lot of different than others. Some lucky buyers were apple to purchase “Chromecast with Google TV” dongle from Walmart before google even announced it.
In 2018, Best Buy ‘accidentally’ put the original Chromecast on its shelves before the launch date. This resulted in a lot of free publicity for the new device.
This time the same thing has been done by Walmart. Is this a big mistake or a publicity stunt? Maybe, maybe not.
The tipster u/fuzztub07 has published a series of photographs of the included hardware and even it’s manual. A video of its user interface has been posted.
The streamer codenamed ‘Sabrina’ is a long-awaited update on the company’s Google Chromecast Ultra. It will come with an all-new dedicated remote that’d look similar to the Apple TV 4K remote.
If the leaked photographs are genuine, then the new remote will have dedicated Google Assistant, Netflix, and YouTube buttons. The device is powered by USB Type-C, while its remote takes two AAA batteries.
It’s essentially an Android TV streaming device (rebranded to ‘Google TV‘) which is controlled using the all-new remote. It also supports Chromecast streaming from compatible apps.

The device seems to be available only a few retail stores. Sources claim that the device is not available to purchase from the retailer’s online websites. It appears to be available only for offline purchases.
The receipt lists the device as “SABRINA-ABBEY ROCK CANDY,” which is the hardware’s codename. It’s another dead give away that the device is prematurely available for purchase.
Google will launch its Pixel 5, new Chromecast, and smart speaker on September 30th, we will have to wait on further confirmations till then.
