Google Play Music will not work in India from October 2020 and will be replaced by YouTube Music

Every Android phone user will find Google Play Music in their phones and many of them like or prefer to use the app to listen to their favourite playlists. But, from October 2020 Google Play Music will not work in India. The app will be taken down and replaced by YouTube Music.

YouTube Music offers over 50 million official tracks, albums and high-quality audio, as well as deep cuts, B-sides, live performances, and remixes. It will be the heir to Google Play Music by the end of 2020.

Although Google Play Music will not work from October, you will still have another 2 months time till December to transfer your music libraries including playlists, uploads, purchases, likes and more to YouTube Music.

Users won’t be able to purchase and pre-order music or upload and download music from Google Play Music through Music Manager from August. YouTube has already started helping Google Play Music users to transfer their content to YouTube Music since May.

YouTube has also brought new features and improvements to YouTube Music.

    • Assistive Playlist Creation – You can quickly and easily create playlists by adding recommended songs based on existing songs in the playlist, as well as personalized signals, such as watch history and likes.
    • Collaborative Playlists – You will also get the option to collaborate with other music fans to create shared playlists for any occasion.
    • New Programmed Playlists – You can explore newly launched programmed playlists like Highline, Caribbean Pulse, Conditions Underground and more.
    • Player Page Redesign – YouTube Music has updated the player page and is available to Android mobile users. It provides a more modern design that allows better playback controls and easier access to related music and other features like song lyrics.
    • Explore Tab – The new Explore tab is available on both mobile and the web version. It is the consistent destination to find new releases including albums, singles, and music videos, as well as browse our vast catalogue of diverse playlists through the Moods & Genre section.

Users will get the ad-supported version of YouTube Music for free. Or they can pay just Rs 99 a month for YouTube Music Premium which is paid membership that gives users the features of background listening, downloads and an ad-free experience. YouTube Premium is also available from Rs 129 a month to enjoy ad-free, background listening and offline playback across all of YouTube.
