The Pixel 9 series has already been leaked and rumored a lot, but this newly leaked promo material was sourced by tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks). Google Pixel 9 series marketing images are here and Google has made some modifications in the design, specs, AI, and more of two smartphones from its upcoming lineup – Pixel 9 Pro XL & Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
All About the Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Renders suggest the Google Pixel 9 series will be available in new colors like dark grey, light grey, off-white (rumored to be marketed as Porcelain White), and pink. The back panel is soft matte, while the sides are shutter or glow. That camera island is an entire strip of lenses in this case and stands proud from the back panel.
The Pro models might have three lenses, with the regular Pixel housing only two lenses. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold gets a rectangle with curved edges camera island, while the normal (non-foldable) model gets an oblong shape. At the front, there is a punch-hole cutout in which they positioned the selfie camera and its surrounding bezels look quite minimal.
In particular, the Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch Actua display while the Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, and and Pixel 9 XL has a a 6.8-inch Super Actua display. The Pixel 9 Fold has a 6.3-inch Actua front (cover screen) and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display (inner screen). A 50MP wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide are also featured with the Pixel 9. While the Pixel 9 Pro and XL have a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto sensor. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultrawide snapper, and a 10.8MP telephoto sensor. The Pixel 9 has a 10.5MP selfie camera.
The Pixel 9 Pro and XL models have a 42MP front camera, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have a 10MP selfie camera. All four Pixel 9 series phones will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset. The Pixel 9 will come with up to 12GB RAM, while the Pixel 9 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold will have up to 16GB RAM.
Google states that these phones are engineered and designed for AI. They promise seven years of security updates and Pixel Drops (software updates with new Pixel-exclusive features). There’s also an Emergency SOS feature on the new Pixels that can provide crisis alerts for things like nearby fires or floods, along with malware protection and safeguards against phishing attacks.
Additionally, the new Pixels have a feature termed ‘Pixel Screenshots’ which will save events and other places for you to remember later. This is later available so that you can remember what had slipped your mind or also if there’s any missing information, think of it as a simpler form of Recall from Microsoft.
The promo material also calls out a couple of ways in which Gemini AI and Circle to Search will be beneficial. There may also be a 1-meter USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 2.0) in the Pixel Pro XL packaging, as well maybe other devices that will come with this length and type of cable. Google’s Gemini Advanced AI model will be included for free for one year.
