Due to the current pandemic condition worldwide, the offices and schools’ maximum are shifted on the online platforms. All the meetings are taking place via various kinds of online platforms provided by global tech leaders like Microsoft and Google.
Though Google joined the race later, its clever step manages to serve the top-notch service to the maximum of its users and that also without paying any smartphone company to keep the app built-in. In case you don’t know, Google merged its video conferencing platform, Google Meet, with Gmail. So, every Gmail user automatically gets access to it; on top of that, they don’t need to download any other app separately.
To strengthen its grip on this market, Google added the customizable video background option to the Meet application. There are some default themes and background images like office space, landscapes, and more. As this facility is customizable, users can set their favorite images by themselves; they only need to upload that, that’s it.
In its blog post, Google wrote, “Virtual backgrounds work directly within your browser and do not require an extension or any additional software. At launch, they’ll work on ChromeOS and the Chrome browser on Windows and Mac desktop devices. Support on Meet mobile apps will be coming soon; we’ll announce on the Google Workspace Updates blog when they become available,”
This new feature is already started rolling out for various kinds of customers, including Google Meet Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Enterprise for Education non-profit customers and users with personal Google accounts. Alongside, uploading the customized background will be disabled for the meetings conducted by Education customers.
