Google has just revealed that the I/O Developer’s conference, in 2024 is scheduled to kick off on May 14th continuing the setup introduced last year. While there will be an audience the event will also be livestreamed for viewers worldwide. The main focus of this year’s conference will be the introduction of Android 15 along with updates to Google services.

This year’s I/O event is expected to showcase advancements in intelligence building on the recent launch of Gemini, Google’s latest cutting-edge AI model. There are also rumors circulating about the unveiling of the Google Pixel 8a during the conference positioned as a follow-up to its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.
The alleged specifications for the Pixel 8a include a 6.1-inch FHD+ display with a punch-hole design, powered by a Tensor G3 SoC paired with Mali G715 GPU and Titan G2 security chip. It is projected to feature 8GB RAM and 128GB storage capacity operating on Android 14 right out of the box. Furthermore, it is said to come equipped with a 4,942mAh battery that supports fast charging up to 27W.
There have been indications of a rise in the cost of the Pixel 8a particularly for the version with 256GB storage when compared to its previous model. The starting price for the 128GB model may be around 569.90 Euros marking an increase of EUR 60 from the Pixel 7a while the 256GB variant could be priced at EUR 630.
Among the anticipated features of Android 15 is the introduction of an ‘Easy Mode’ featuring larger icons for enhanced accessibility along with a ‘Private Space’ feature allowing users to conceal and secure specific applications. Additionally, the Android 15 OS is rumored to introduce Auracast, enabling users to broadcast audio via Bluetooth directly within the operating system, simplifying the process of sharing or connecting to nearby LE Audio streams without the need for intricate pairing procedures.
