Google Bard chatbot has stepped up its game by introducing a feature called AI image generation. This puts it in competition, with rivals like ChatGPT Plus. The process is quite simple; users can visit the site enter a prompt for image creation and witness the magic happen before their eyes.
What sets Bard apart is that its image generation service is completely free making creative exploration accessible to an audience. However, it’s worth noting that currently Bard excels with photos but there are expectations for improvement over time.
The All New Google Bard Update
Now users have the ability to instruct Bard to generate photos using Google’s Imagen 2 text-to-image model. Although initially there were hopes of powering Bard with the advanced Gemini Ultra model it is still under development and not yet integrated.
Google has positioned Bard as a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus, which operates on GPT 4 and allows users to generate images through DALL-E 3 integration. While both chatbots perform well Bard had previously been behind due to its lack of text to image features. However, with this update introducing Imagen 2 capabilities at no cost to users Bard now comes on par, with ChatGPT Plus (which requires a subscription).
Google places importance on responsibility when it comes to image creation and has incorporated safety features into the capabilities of Bard. The company has implemented a watermarking technique where AI-generated photos have an embedded mark within their pixels to show that they are not real. Moreover, the company has put in place measures to ensure that images of people or those, with offensive or explicit content are not generated.
The approach extends to ImageFX, an experimental photo tool powered by Imagen 2. ImageFX enables users to create images through simple text prompts, contributing to generative AI exploration. Feedback from users engaging with ImageFX is used by Google engineers to make improvements. Like Bard, all images generated through ImageFX will be marked by SynthID.
