There are a lot of AMD fans out there who have been waiting for a wide range of gaming laptops with great performance and relatively better specs. Undoubtedly, till this moment there were few gaming laptops like HP Omen 15, Dell G5 SE, ASUS TUF Gaming 15 or the MSI Bravo 15 but sadly all of them had some caveats but a strong CPU performance.

So, Lenovo thought of expanding its gaming laptop portfolio by launching laptops like Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, Legion 5 and Legion 5P. The IdeaPad Gaming 3 is on the more budget side while the Legion 5 maxes out the gaming performance.

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

The gaming laptop features a 15.6-inch FHD display with slim bezel design and 120Hz refresh rate. On the CPU front, you can opt for up to the 8 core/16 thread AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU on the graphics front. Being on the budget side of the gaming laptops, its graphics are quite restricted.

The Ideapad Gaming 3 comes paired with up to 1TB PCIe SSD and memory up to 32 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM. The laptop is equipped with Intelligent Cooling via Lenovo Q-Control 3.0 for performance mode switching and it provides up to 7 hours of battery life with Rapid Charge.

The stylish IdeaPad Gaming 3 features a blue backlit gaming keyboard with 1.5mm key travel and is available in two eye-catching colours, iridescent Chameleon Blue or reflective Onyx Black. With Lenovo Vantage for Gaming, you can control and calibrate your hardware plus game and apps settings in one place, for better gaming performance.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is expected to be available at a starting price of $659.99 in July 2020 itself.

Lenovo Legion 5

The Legion 5 gaming laptop series has been one of the best gaming laptop series by Lenovo and updating it with the new Ryzen 4000H gaming processors is all that we were waiting for actually. The Legion 5 comes in two sizes – 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch variants but with same Full HD (1920 x 1080) wide-viewing angle displays with 144Hz smooth refresh rate.

Lenovo says the display supports Dolby Vision and is paired with up to 16 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 memory, 1 TB PCIe SSD of storage. The Lenovo Legion Coldfront 2.0 helps you tune the thermals and the laptop available in sleek Phantom Black colour.

For audio, there’s the Harman Kardon Speaker System with acoustics chamber and immersive Dolby Atmos audio support as well. The Lenovo Legion TrueStrike keyboard comes with up to 1.5mm key travel for smooth typing experience and it’s a white backlit keyboard that offers 100% anti-ghosting and soft-landing switches.

Lenovo touts that the 17-inch model will provide you up to 7.5 hours of battery life and can be charged fast with Lenovo’s Rapid Charge Pro technology – up to 50% battery life in less than 30 minutes. The 15.6-inch Lenovo Legion 5 is now available with the latest Ryzen 4000H gaming processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU in the market with a starting price of $759.99

The other 15.6-inch models with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU will have a starting price of $1019.99 and will be available in August 2020. This gaming laptop series is dedicated towards eSports gamers and it also features up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800H series Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPUs. Much like the Legion 5, the laptop features a 15.6-inch Full HD wide-viewing angle display has with 144Hz refresh rate and a 5ms response time to reduce screen tearing, along with optional Dolby Vision support.

The Lenovo Legion 5P comes in Iron Grey and features white-lit “Y” logo. You can play with the thermals and stuff via Legion Coldfront 2.0 while for cooling the laptop features copper heat sinks and a quad channel ventilation system to circulate cool air to key system components. It also uses an integrated thermal module for greater thermal efficiency. 

The Lenovo Q-Control 3.0 let’s you manually switch between performance modes. It is paired with up to to 32 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 memory and up to 1 TB PCIe SSD of storage. For audio, it comes with Harman Kardon speakers which are optimized with Dolby Atmos.

The laptop has dedicated media keys and number pad to make video editing and setting macros easier, while its smarter, Lenovo Legion TrueStrike keyboard provides 100% anti-ghosting and is available with optional 4-zone RGB system backlighting. The Legion 5P has a thin profile and weighs just 2.5 kg.

It gives up to 7.5 hours of battery life with Rapid Charge Pro and can use the slim power adapter to charge from zero to up to 50% battery life in 30 minutes.
