PSG have agreed a deal with Benfica for Goncalo Ramos, with the player expected to make the move imminently. The Portugal international scored a famous hat-trick at the World Cup, and is now making the step up to the Ligue 1 champions.

He has agreed a contract until June 2028 with them, and is expected to complete the formalities for the transfer soon. Ramos will become the club’s long-awaited striker signing, and joins a lengthy list of players to have been signed by the club this summer.

This past season, the 22-year-old scored 27 goals and provided two assists in 45 games, setting up a remarkable return during his time with Benfica. He had a contract with them until 2025, but has decided to move on to a higher level with his switch to Paris.

Goncalo Ramos joins Ousmane Dembele, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Kang-in Lee, Arnau Tenas, Cher Ndour and Manuel Ugarte to have made the switch to the French capital this summer. Manchester United were interested in signing the Portugese forward, but decided to carry out a much more expensive deal for Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

His transfer comes at a time when there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Kylian Mbappe. There are chances that the France international could leave, although he has indicated a desire to stay for the coming season. But, it would take a huge bid for any club to sign him this summer.
