Barely a day after Prithviraj Sukumaran’s *Khalifa: Part 1* hit theatres, the makers wasted zero time confirming what fans were already hoping for — a sequel. **Khalifa 2 – The Legacy** has just been officially announced, and it’s shaping up to go even bigger.

*Khalifa: Part 1* released on August 20, 2026, and closed on a cliffhanger digging into the backstory of Aamir Ali’s grandfather, Mambaraykkal Ahmad Ali — played by none other than Mohanlal. Naturally, that’s exactly where the sequel is headed.

## What We Know So Far

Mohanlal steps up from a cameo to a lead role in Part 2, exploring the origin story that built the smuggling empire Aamir Ali inherits. Prithviraj Sukumaran returns as Aamir Ali, and both Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir — who made cameo appearances in the first film — are expected to reprise their roles.

Directed by Vysakh, the franchise blends gold-trading intrigue, family legacy, and international action across Kerala, Dubai, London, and Nepal.
