Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone come with a new package of comedy series, ‘God’s Favourite Idiot’. Netflix currently dropped the trailer of the fun romp. The trailer shows a good sense of humour and a lot of classic McCarthy shenanigans.
As a real-life couple, this is their next collaboration. Previously, we have seen them in several shows like up intelligence, the Boss, and Thunder force.
God’s Favourite Idiot: Plot
The story of God’s Favourite Idiot revolves around Clark Thompson who is a gentle tech-specialist who overnight starts to glow and find out that God has selected him to protect humanity from the devil forces of Satan. After knowing this, he seriously makes a team of misfits, it contains his long-time crush Emily and also many other of his co-workers.
Along with the couple, the cast includes McCarthy’s Gilmore Girls co-star Yanic Truesdale playing the role of Archangel Chamuel and Leslie Bibb as Satan. All of them come together as a team because one can’t save the entire world alone.
The concept of the first trailer of the show seems like fills with big ideas, bombastic sequences, and plenty of special effects, if you think action is missing then just hold for the end that contains such incredible fighting sequences and explosions.

The trailer of the comedy series starts with a scene that shows a thunder cloud condensing over a house of Clark and a yellow light blinking from the center of the cloud. After that, it introduces Melissa McCarthy who is very anxious and telling about something that she had seen last night. She give an honest confession that she may take cocaine twice last week, but at the time of the event, she took zero Cocaine. However, the strange cloud condensing deeply over the house suddenly give a Thundershock to Clark Thompson, and he fell to the ground.
After that event, Clark Thomson aka Ben Falcone, and Melissa McCarthy went for dinner in a hotel, and she has seen a yellow light coming from Clark’s entire body, after watching this she accidentally roofed herself.
Now the comedy starts as Clark gets millions of views on YouTube for glowing, and becomes very famous. Everyone trying to find the reason behind this, someone says there may be some religious angle. Clark also starts to think may God choose him.
On this topic Melissa McCarthy finds no religious reason, she assumes he is just spontaneously combusting. The twist comes when a white angel comes to them from the sky, and confirms that he has been selected by God to protect the world from Satan. After listening to this, he becomes very nervous and afraid. Satan already takes an entry into the city, she is a beautiful lady with the power of fire.
Now fulfilling the purpose of God just only by him is impossible so, there will be many such characters who possess supernatural powers who will join Clark to stop Satan. In the team, we will see a White Angel, and four horsemen from the apocalypse. The horseman makes many funny comedy moments throughout the series. We have to wait to see if Clark will be able to defeat Satan or not.
God’s Favourite Idiot: Production Status
The shooting of the film started in New South Wales, Australia in 2021 that contains 16 episodes, but unfortunately, the production team had to stop the work in half, and the streamer take the decision to split it into 8 episode seasons. The shooting of the first eight episodes is already completed and scheduled to release, and the second part is yet to be shot.
The series was both produced and featured by both husband and wife duo, and the shot happened across Barton Bay and Ballina in Australia last year March.
