## Ryan Hurst as the Ghost of Sparta

Casting Hurst as Kratos is inspired genius. The *Sons of Anarchy* veteran brings physical presence and emotional depth perfected through roles like loyal Opie Winston and *Walking Dead* villain Beta. His breakthrough as Gerry Bertier in *Remember the Titans* proved his range.

Recent work includes Netflix’s Western *The Abandons* and upcoming appearances in *And Out Comes the Wolf* and Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey*. Hurst combines the physicality needed for Kratos’s brutal combat with the vulnerability required for his evolving relationship with son Atreus.

## Teresa Palmer Joins as Norse Goddess Sif

Palmer’s casting as Thor’s wife Sif adds star power and dramatic weight. Her breakthrough in zombie romance *Warm Bodies* and acclaimed performance in *Hacksaw Ridge* demonstrated versatility. Leading fantasy series *A Discovery of Witches* as Diana Bishop proved she can anchor supernatural storytelling.

Her 2025 credits include *The Last Anniversary* (adapting Liane Moriarty’s novel), suspense thriller *The Family Next Door*, and *Mix Tape* for Binge. Palmer brings both action credibility and emotional nuance to the Norse goddess role.

## Thor and Baldur Complete the Pantheon

*Severance* star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson takes on the mighty Thor, promising a complex portrayal of the God of Thunder beyond typical superhero interpretations. Meanwhile, Max Parker remains in discussions for Baldur, the light god who serves as the 2018 game’s primary antagonist.

## What to Expect

The series adapts the modern *God of War* games, following Kratos and Atreus’s journey through the Nine Realms to fulfill a promise to Atreus’s mother, Faye. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore (*Battlestar Galactica*, *Outlander*) brings pedigree in adapting complex source material with emotional depth.
