Giovanni Lo Celso will be returning to Villarreal for the 22/23 season on a loan deal. The Argentinian spent the latter half of last season on loan at the La Liga club, and he will spend another year with them after an agreement was reached with Tottenham for his signing.
Tottenham have added a clause in the player’s contract which will allow them to terminate the deal in January in case an offer for a permanent deal comes in. This means that Unai Emery’s side will have to make a decision about his future soon, if they want him for the long-term.
Villarreal to sign Giovanni Lo Celso on another loan deal
The final decision about his future will be up to the player himself. However, he has been very positive about his spell under Unai Emery. With them, he was able to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, defeating Juventus and Bayern Munich before losing to Liverpool.
The attacking midfielder is in Spain to complete the formalities related to the move. Once the contracts have been signed and the medical is complete, his return will be officially announced by Villarreal.
Napoli were also interested in signing Giovanni Lo Celso this summer, but the negotiations between them and Spurs didn’t yield any result. As a result, Villarreal have been able to re-sign their man for at least another half a season.
