Giovanni Lo Celso has officially completed his return to Villarreal, joining them on loan once again. The deal agreed is for a loan until 2023, with no buy option included for the Spanish side to make the deal permanent.
However, Spurs have inserted a special clause that will allow them to interrupt the loan spell in case an offer for a permanent deal arrives. This will be subject to the wishes of the player, and whether or not he will be open to leaving in the middle of the season.
Giovanni Lo Celso returns to Villarreal for 22/23
The Argentine spent the latter half of 21/22 at Unai Emery’s side, and was able to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. As a result, he has now earned another spell with the yellow club.
With the World Cup coming up later this year, Giovanni Lo Celso will have to get regular game time to make it to the national team. And regular game time in La Liga will help him achieve that.
Spurs are clearing out their squad ahead of the new season, with several players listed for transfer. Tanguy Ndombele is expected to join Napoli this summer, while Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilón’s futures remain up in the air as of right now.
All four players have been excluded from Antonio Conte’s plans, and only have a fortnight to find a new club.
