Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini is set to sign a new contract with the Bianconeri until 2033, as reported by renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

An agreement has been reached between the two parties and the official announcement is expected within the next few days. The player is keen on making it to the Italy squad for the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar. He was one of the standout performers in Roberto Mancini’s team that won the 2020 Euros by defeating England at Wembley and captained the team to success.

Chiellini is technically without a club right now since his previous contract with Juventus expired on July 1st. However, he does not intend on accepting any offers from other clubs since he plans on staying in Turin for two more years at the very least. The 36-year-old is one of the longest-serving players for Juventus, having joined them in 2005 from Fiorentina.

He has led the team to 9 Serie A titles and 5 Coppa Italia trophies during his time at Juventus. Although European glory has eluded him at the club level, he not only won the Euros but was also awarded the defender of the competition award by UEFA.

The upcoming season will see the veteran centre-back lead the team once again, reunited with former coach Max Allegri. The objective, of course, will be to reclaim their Serie A title that they lost to Inter Milan in 20/21.
