Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini could leave the club this summer. The player has spent 17 years with the Bianconeri, and is looking for a new experience. While his contract runs out in 2023, Juventus are likely to let him leave if he chooses to do so at the end of the campaign.
He is tempted by a move to the MLS and could make the switch this summer. The 37-year-old is still a mainstay in the starting line-up and is among the most important players owing to his leadership. He also captains the Italy national team, leading them to their first European Championship in over half a century last summer.
Giorgio Chiellini could leave Juventus this summer
While the centre-back hasn’t decided which team he will join in the summer, he has several options to choose from. At 37, he could be entering the final years of his career with fitness issues becoming more prevalent for the titan.
Juventus are looking to rebuild their team, with Paulo Dybala leaving the club as a free agent in the summer as well. Alongside the Argentinian, one of their key defenders will be leaving as well. The Bianconeri will need to find a similar left-footed centre-back to replace Giorgio Chiellini with and build the future with.
Matthijs De Ligt is expected to be the player around which the defense is built. The Dutchman will need a world-class partner alongside him if Juventus are to restore themselves as a top European club in the coming years.
