Gigabyte has many ventures to its business, we have seen it launching its Aero, Aorus, as well as some amazing Gaming series laptops. But now, Gigabyte is venturing into ultrabook territory with its new U4.

The Gigabyte U4 will be the second major laptop launched by the OEM that will be powered by the Intel Tiger Lake Core i7-1195G7, the other being the MSI Prestige 14 EVO.

The laptop is extremely lightweight and has just 990g of weight and the Gigabyte U4 is just 16.5 mm thick. The laptop also sports a 14-inch FHD display and has an 83% screen-to-body ratio and has a 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage.

According to the OEM, the hinge on the laptop can be rotated fully flat up to 180°, and also that the new U4 is compliant with MIL-STD 810G standards for durability in a variety of environmental conditions.

The processor powering the laptop which is the Core i7-1195G7 has the ability to turbo boost up to 5 GHz on a single core but it will be interesting to see whether the Gigabyte U4 will be able to sustain this performance once its put to a real-world test.

Supporting the performance of the Core i7-1195G7 is the DDR4-3200 RAM with the memory of 8 GB, and comes as standard with options to accommodate up to 64 GB. For storage, we will get two M.2 PCIe NVMe slots on offer, one of which supports Gen4 speeds.

The ports on the laptop include 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 (Type-A), 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-A), 1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x HDMI 2.0 (with HDCP), a combo audio jack, and a microSD card reader. Networking needs are taken care of by the Intel AX201 WLAN card with Bluetooth 5.2.

The laptop comes with a decent amount of specs and can be used for high-end tasks, however, the battery could turn out to be a major flaw for the device. It stands at just 36 Wh and is rated for about eight hours, and is definitely on the lower side. But, let’s see about the performance of the device after we see its real-life performance testing.
