Gigabyte accidentally leaks its laptop running on Intel’s Alder Lake-P unit

Often we see the leak of products that are not even confirmed officially by their manufacturers, and this ends up giving more information and excitement for the users while simultaneously acting as a promotion for the OEMs.

However, there is hardly a time when the manufacturer itself ends up leaking and accidentally revealing one of its major upcoming products. And that’s what happened with Gigabyte, as the OEM accidentally leaked one of its next-generation laptops packing an Intel Alder Lake-P Mobility CPU & DDR5 memory.

According to sources, the laptop was running in Gigabyte’s Taiwan HQ and it appeared within the UserBenchmark database. Videocardz who are known for snooping out the latest leaks and rumours of the tech world stated that Gigabyte’s AORUS laptops have a specific codename for each generation on which their laptop is based upon.

The 10th Gen lineup was codenamed YC, the 11th Gen lineup is known as YD and the upcoming 12th Gen lineup will be labelled as YD. And going by this pattern and also that the variant in question is the AORUS 17G 17YE5 and features a top-of-the-line Core i7 or Core i9 CPU with 14 cores & 20 threads, means that this variant belongs to the Alder Lake lineup.

The chip which appears in the leaked notebook is the most popular Intel Alder Lake-P configuration which has shown up in various leaks in the past. This chip will feature 14 cores & 20 threads and 6 performance-optimized cores are based on the Golden Cove architecture & also a total of 8 efficiency optimized cores which will be based on the Gracemont architecture.

We know that Gigabytes AORUS 17G laptops are aimed at high-end gamers, and this model sports the Alder Lake-P H45 based on the Alder Lake-P mobile SKUs. If this ends up being true then in this laptop we are looking at the Core i7-12700H/12800H or Core i9-12850HK.
