Atalanta have reached an agreement with West Ham United for the transfer of Gianluca Scamacca. The striker will be returning to Italy after spending only one year with the Hammers, where he failed to live up to expectations after his performances with Sassuolo.Â
West Ham United have accepted a bid worth €25 million upfront plus €5 million in the form of easily achievable add-ons. The Premier League club are also entitled to a 10% sell-on clause, which means they will receive the agreed upon percentage of any future fee.
Gianluca Scamacca to sign for Atalanta from West Ham UnitedÂ
The player had interest from Inter, Milan and Roma over a return. But apart from Inter, neither club was willing to go beyond a loan with the option to buy. Atalanta have decided to match West Ham’s demands after selling Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United for a massive €70 million fee.
La Dea have also offered a higher salary to the player than Inter, which is around €3.2 million per season. He is expected to travel to Italy imminently to complete the medical and be officially revealed as a new signing for the club.
Atalanta are also close to signing Charles De Ketelaere on a loan deal with the option to buy from AC Milan. The attacking midfielder has failed to live up to expectations with the Rossoneri in his first season in Italy, and could rediscover his form with a move to an all-out attacking side like that of Gian Piero Gasperini.Â
