## Match Context

This is a meaningful opener for both nations. Ghana, appearing in their fifth World Cup in six tournaments, are looking for a much-needed reset under new boss Carlos Queiroz, who took over from Otto Addo earlier this year. The Black Stars have struggled for results lately — winless in their last seven outings — but a 1-1 draw with Wales at least snapped a three-game losing run heading into the tournament.

Panama, meanwhile, are only making their second-ever World Cup appearance, following their 2018 debut where they exited at the group stage. Coach Thomas Christiansen has named an experienced squad, and the team will be eager to register their first-ever World Cup win on this stage.

## Players to Watch

For Ghana, captain Jordan Ayew leads the attack with experience and composure, while Antoine Semenyo’s pace and directness make him a constant threat out wide. Midfield anchor Thomas Partey’s involvement (or absence) could heavily shape how Ghana controls the tempo of this match. For Panama, much will depend on their experienced core stepping up in a high-pressure tournament opener against an African side desperate for a positive start.

## Recent Form

Ghana’s last five matches have produced just one draw against four defeats, including losses to Mexico and Germany, leaving them with plenty to prove. Panama arrive with less recent international data available but bring tournament-tested experience from their 2018 campaign.

## How to Watch

The match will be broadcast across official World Cup partners worldwide, including Channel One TV in Ghana and major networks like Telemundo, Peacock, and Universo in the US, with SuperSport covering Sub-Saharan Africa.
