Grand Theft Auto is the game that is considered a legend amongst us 90s kids. I practically grew up playing GTA: San Andreas. And if you want to get a taste of the old GTA games in a new colour, then your dreams might just come true.
RockStar games are now planning to release the remastered versions of its three classic PlayStation 2-era Grand Theft Auto games for PC and modern consoles, including the Switch. The remastering news comes amidst the fact that there are lots of mods currently going strong for the GTA games, and of course, the games are still a hit amongst the fans.
Rumours claim that the remastered versions of the games will reportedly come as soon as this fall after several years of internal delays. However, we are hearing that we might get to see the console release of the games this year, with the PC and Mobile versions being scheduled for the 2022 release.
For now, we have no idea as to exactly which games will be launched as remastered versions. However, Kotaku, the leaker of this information, states that Rockstar has several GTA remasters being in the works at its Rockstar Dundee, previously known as Ruffian Games.
GTA San Andreas
From previously leaked information, we understand that the games to be remastered will be Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and my personal and everybody’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Do note that these three were the first set of 3D GTA games, and these games were responsible for establishing GTA and Rockstar in the market.
Rockstar has recently been very aggressive against mods using assets from its games; however, they were still unable to do anything against them. But the remastered release of these games indicates that Rockstar games are ready to take a firm stand against the models of its A-list titles.
The games are being remastered using Unreal Engine and a mix of new and old graphical styles. These remastered games will have an updated UI in the same style as the originals. I am ready to play San Andreas yet again and re-live my childhood, are you?
