Gerard Pique was sent off at halftime in the last game of his career against Osasuna at halftime. The center-back did not make it to the starting eleven, with Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso deployed in the central positions.

Robert Lewandowski was sent off after around thirty minutes in the game, while Pique was sent off for protesting and talking to the referee at the break, who knew full well that it was his last game.

It is unclear what Pique said to get himself sent off. However, he was set off from the bench which means that Barcelona played with ten men as Lewandowski was sent off. But, Pique had not entered the pitch yet which is why they weren’t down to nine men.

“Pique would have participated today because [Andreas] Christensen was recovering from injury and Eric [Garcia] had discomfort,” Barcelona manager Xavi said after the game.

Last week, Gerard Pique received a huge farewell in his last game at Camp Nou against Almeria. And with him being unable to play, that is how his illustrious career ended since he wasn’t able to play last night. The defender has said that he intends to be back in Barcelona at some point, potentially in the form of its president. If or when that happens is what remains to be seen now.
