Georges Mikautadze is set to join Lyon after a dramatic transfer saga, as per renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The Georgian was the joint-top scorer at Euro 2024, scoring three goals as his side made it to the last 16.
Monaco were set to sign the 23-year-old, but talks broke down between the two in spite of a total agreement and the medical tests being booked. Now, Lyon have swooped in to close the deal on short notice.

After crazy saga with AS Monaco and even medical tests booked, Mikautadze decides to join OL and his contract will be valid until June 2029.

The Georgian came up through the Metz academy and was on Ajax’s books for the first half of the 23/24 season, before returning to France. In 20 Ligue 1 games, he scored 14 goals and provided four assists to earn his call-up to the Euro 2024 squad.
And after impressing at the big stage, he is set to join a resurgent Lyon side for the coming season. Georges Mikautadze has a contract agreed till 2029, and Metz are expected to receive a fee in the region of €18 million for the striker.
Given the way the transfer saga has developed, fans will be wary of believing any rumours till the player is holding up the Lyon shirt.
