The Game Developers Association of India (GDAI) today announced the selection of 15 game studios for the inaugural cohort of Supernova, its nationwide incubation program. The initiative aims to support early-stage game studios and original game intellectual properties (IPs) in India, collaborating with partners including Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Indus Appstore, Mintegral, and Lakshya Digital.

The Supernova program, launched in July 2026, is a three-month intensive designed to assist pre-revenue studios in developing promising game ideas and prototypes into commercially viable businesses. Participants will receive tailored mentorship, access to industry expertise, publisher and investor networks, industry credits, and AI-driven development support. The program also offers opportunities to showcase games at prominent industry platforms.

The 15 selected studios were chosen from over 260 applications submitted across the country, indicating a robust pipeline of emerging game development talent and original game IP within the Indian market. GDAI, which represents over 200 member studios, positions Supernova as a core component of its broader strategy to bolster India’s game creation ecosystem, focusing on IP development, business sustainability, and global market connectivity. Rajan Navani, Board Member and Chairperson of the GDAI Incubation Subcommittee, emphasized the program’s focus. “This inaugural cohort marks a significant step for these 15 studios. Supernova will connect mentors, technology partners, publishers, and investors to address each studio’s specific development and business needs. We anticipate this support will lead to stronger games, clearer commercial paths, and impactful showcases at the IGDC Demo Day.”

## GDAI Selection Process and Partner Support

The selection process evaluated applicants based on team strength, game concept originality and potential, entrepreneurial mindset, program commitment, alignment with Supernova’s offerings, and evidence of market validation. An independent jury comprising leaders from the global gaming and interactive entertainment industry oversaw the evaluation.

Priya Narasimhan, Chief Business Officer at Indus Appstore, highlighted their role as a program partner. “Indus Appstore is committed to fostering India’s gaming ecosystem and enabling homegrown studios to scale. GDAI’s Supernova program is integral to this objective. Our team looks forward to providing hands-on mentorship, priority onboarding on Indus Appstore, and ad credits for user acquisition to these studios, supporting their journey to build successful global gaming brands from India.”

The program curriculum covers essential aspects of game development, including game art, engineering and technical pipelines, team building, live-operations, monetization strategies, go-to-market planning, and marketing. One-on-one mentorship with industry veterans will complement these modules.
