Barcelona are preparing to extend the contract of La Masia graduate Gavi until June 2027. His current deal runs until June 2023, and has a €50 million release clause included in it.
The La Liga side are trying to include a €1 billion release clause in his contract, and doing away with the previous amount. They have done the same for fellow youngsters Ansu Fati, Pedri and Ronald Araujo. And the board fully believes that the 17-year-old will be one of the most important players in the team in the coming years.
Gavi to renew contract with Barcelona soon
In 33 La Liga appearances, Gavi has been able to score two goals and provide six assists. The young midfielder has also been called up by Luis Enrique to the Spanish national team. He made his debut for the national side last year, and has since earned six caps.
The youngster possesses a wealth of talent, and can dribble as well as pass the ball with great accuracy. He has earned a spot in the midfield ahead of senior players for club and country, and is showing signs of becoming great early on.
As part of the rebuilding project under Xavi, the teenager will be a key part of the future. And the new contract offered by Barcelona confirms exactly that. Only the final paperworks need to be sorted out between the board and the player before the official announcement is made.
