Only days after winning the Kopa Trophy for the best player under 21 at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Gavi has won the Golden Boy award given by Tuttosport as well.

The Barcelona midfielder succeeds his teammate Pedri as the next player to be named the Golden Boy. Other players shortlisted for the coveted award were Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund and Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich.

The midfielder has been remarkable during his time with the first team so far. He has played 47 times under Xavi Hernandez and has also been called up to the Spanish national team by Luis Enrique. For La Roja, he has earned 12 caps so far and is also expected to play the 2022 World Cup with them.

Gavi has earned a regular starting spot in the team, despite being much younger than others in his position also competing for game time. Barcelona recently agreed a new contract with him with a €1 billion release clause, tying him down to the club for the foreseeable future.

Tuttosport has also named Barcelona Feneni’s Alexia Putellas as the best female footballer. On the other hand, Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho have shared the coach of the year award for winning the Champions League and inaugural Europa Conference League respectively.
