The 2022 Golden Boy award winner, Gavi, was named the man of the match in Spain’s 7-0 demolition of Costa Rica in their World Cup opener. The midfielder became the youngest goalscorer in the history of La Roja at the biggest stage of them all, aged 18 years and 110 days. The record for Spain was previously held by Real Madrid icon Raul.
He also became the youngest goalscorer at the World Cup since Pele and Manuel Rosas. And with his performances, he is showing exactly why he is trusted so much by Luis Enrique and Xavi for country and club.

The teenager received the Golden Boy award as well as the Kopa Trophy ahead of the likes of Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham, who were also in contention. He might not be the most prolific goalscorer from the heart of the park, but his contribution to the team remains a huge asset.
Gavi recently extended his contract with Barcelona, which included a €1 billion release clause. He is expected to be a very important part of both Barcelona and Spain for the coming years, as he develops his game even further.
