Gavi has been the revelation of the season so far for Barcelona. The La Masia academy product has broken into the first team, and looks like a major part of the squad already. As a result, Barcelona have been working hard to extend his contract as soon as possible.

The board has decided to extend his stay for five more years, with his salary increasing from season to season. The release clause in his contract worth €50 million will also be removed as part of the new deal.

His release clause attracted interest from Liverpool, who could have activated it. However, due to his love for Barcelona, Gavi was only ever going to extend his stay at Camp Nou.

After Pedri broke into the international footballing scene as the next big youngster, Gavi seems to be the next in line. The midfielder is also the youngest to make his debut for the Spain national team.

After Golden Boy Pedri and Ansu Fati, Gavi seems to be the next big player to come out of Barcelona’s iconic academy. The 17-year-old has earned four caps for La Roja since making his debut in October.

He recently scored his first goal for Barcelona against Elche in their 3-2 victory. The midfielder has made 15 appearances for the first team this season, and has made the starting lineup 71% of the time.

With Barcelona tying Gavi down to a new deal, they have sealed the future of yet another huge prospect in the years to come.
