Gareth Bale, a Welsh winger, will depart Real Madrid at the end of the season. The club’s contract with the 32-year-old is slated to end this summer. Bale has reportedly agreed to return to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale’s Departure
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, according to El Nacional, is “fed up” with Gareth Bale and is desperate to part ways with him at the end of the season. Bale’s €£650,000-per-week pay is something the club is desperate to get rid of.
Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur for a then-world-record cost of £85 million in the summer of 2013. Bale had an outstanding first season with the Spanish giants, scoring 22 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions and assisting the club in winning the Champions League and Copa del Rey.
About Gareth Bale
When he joined Los Blancos, the 32-year-old was widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, but injuries have plagued his time with the La Liga club. Bale has arguably failed to achieve the heights anticipated of him throughout his eight-and-a-half years with the club, despite his remarkable goal-scoring record.
Real Madrid has won four Champions League titles, a Copa del Rey trophy, and two La Liga crowns thanks to his 106 goals in 254 games in all competitions. During the 2019-20 season, Bale’s stock plummeted dramatically at Real Madrid. That season, he only made 20 appearances for the club in all competitions, and he fell out of favor with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
In the summer of 2020, he signed a season-long loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur. Bale scored 16 goals in 34 appearances for the north London club in all competitions before joining Real Madrid this summer.
Due to injury, the 32-year- old participation has been limited this season. During the 2021-22 season, he has only made three appearances for the club and is said to be surplus to needs by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Signing Mbappe After Bale Leaves
After being caught on camera laughing at Eden Hazard during Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey quarter-final loss to Athletic Bilbao, the Welshman’s relationship with Real Madrid fans has deteriorated further. Hazard was relegated to the bench as an unused sub. Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to sign Gareth Bale on a free transfer this summer, according to reports.
Gareth Bale’s possible departure after the season will help Real Madrid raise the finances needed to sign PSG’s Kylian Mbappe. With a weekly wage of €650,000, Bale is one of the highest-paid players at the Santiago Bernabeu.
PSG’s contract with Kylian Mbappe is slated to expire at the end of the season, and he has so far declined the club’s offer of a contract extension. According to reports, the Frenchman wants to join Real Madrid next summer.
