Gareth Bale is set to join MLS side LAFC, ending his time in Europe, and leaving Real Madrid after nine years. The player has run down his contract with the Spanish side and will be leaving as a free agent.

LAFC have reached an agreement with him over personal terms, and will sign him for one year. His deal will run until 2023, which will take him beyond the World Cup, where he will captain Wales as they head into the tournament for the first time in 64 years.

Gareth Bale agrees to join LAFC

MLS expert Tom Bogert has said that the player will be joining in a matter of days, with an agreement in place.

“Bale is a free agent after his contract with Real Madrid ends, and a source said that the deal will not take up a designated player position, leaving LAFC with one still open,” Bogert said.

“The agreement will be for 12 months and run until next June.”

Gareth Bale had a very difficult end to his chapter at Real Madrid, where he scored 106 goals and added 67 assists in 258 games. He won five Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three LaLiga Santanders, and three Copa del Reys with the Spanish giants over the course of the nine years.

The Welshman joins Giorgio Chiellini, who will also be joining LAFC as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract with Juventus.
