Samsung, the leading electronics brand in India, has announced the introduction of blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking features for its Galaxy Watch6 series. This is the first time such features are being rolled out in India, available through an over-the-air (OTA) update. With these new additions, users can conveniently monitor their health, support their fitness routines, and facilitate regular health checkups right from their wrists.
Samsung Health Monitor BP & ECG tracking on Galaxy Watch6 series makes India debut
The Galaxy Watch6 now adds to its repertoire as a personal health and fitness monitoring device that complements traditional medical checkups. The blood pressure and ECG tracking features are made available via the Samsung Health Monitor App, which has received regulatory clearance and certification from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
To access these features, Galaxy Watch6 users can download the Samsung Health Monitor App from the Galaxy Store and follow easy instructions to measure their blood pressure and ECG. These features will also be extended to the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 series.
How to Measure Blood Pressure with Your Galaxy Watch
Monitoring your blood pressure, which measures the pressure in your arteries as your heart pumps, is a crucial part of routine health checkups. Now, you can use the Galaxy Watch, equipped with a Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, to check your blood pressure at home. This sensor records systolic and diastolic pressures, as well as pulse rate, and logs this data in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
Taking an ECG Reading with Your Galaxy Watch
An ECG is a simple test that checks the heart’s rhythm and electrical activity to detect irregular rhythms. Now, you can use the Samsung Health Monitor ECG app on your Galaxy Watch to create, record, save, and share ECG data.
Follow these steps to use this feature:
- Pair your Galaxy Watch with your Galaxy smartphone.
- Wear the Galaxy Watch snugly on your wrist.
- Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch.
- To take an ECG reading, lightly rest the fingertip of your opposite hand on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds.
- The ECG data is synced to the paired Galaxy smartphone, where a PDF report is created.
With these new additions, the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 series continues to redefine what a smartwatch can do, making it easier than ever for users to stay on top of their health.
