Following the previous study concerning the top 10 sales numbers for two-wheelers in FY24, we will analyze scooter sales in the same period. There was a rise in demand, with strong double-digit growth in both urban and rural markets. YoY growth was seen in almost all internal combustion engine ICE models, with the exception of the Honda Dio and Hero Pleasure. A surge in electric scooter sales is perhaps the most salient. The TVS iQube and Ola S1 are prime examples.
More About the FY24 Scooter Sales Report
In FY24, the top 10 sales of scooters totaled 5,224,616 sold units, indicating a YoY growth of 14.52 percent from 4,562,346 units in FY23. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) dominated these sales with its Activa scooter, which not only led the segment but also ranked as the second best-selling two-wheeler in the country, following the Hero Splendor. HMSI saw a 4.88% increase in Activa sales, reaching 2,254,527 units in FY24, up from 2,149,658 units in FY23.
TVS Jupiter numbers also showed a solid growth of 15.81% YoY and sold 844,863 units in FY24 as against 729,546 units in FY23. TVS Jupiter also added a 16.17% share to this segment. Suzuki Access was in the third position and sold 634,563 units in FY24 with a good YoY growth of 27.21%. Suzuki Access 125 after the facelift will draw in even more volumes with its new and better looks.
TVS Ntorq comfortably grabbed the fourth spot as 331,865 units were shipped in FY24, reporting 14.22% YoY growth. TVS iQube saw a 96.47% YoY growth as 189,896 units were delivered and Suzuki Burgman reported 44.51 % YoY growth with the sale of 180,194 units in FY24.
On the other hand, Honda Dio encountered a setback in sales in FY24 with a 32.63% YoY decline which fell to 170,765 units. The Ola S1 electric scooter led with the highest YoY growth in the year concluding FY24 with a 115.48% rise representing 329,237 retail sales.
Yamaha RayZR recorded the second-highest YoY increase of 52.95%, while Hero Pleasure suffered a decline of 16.70%. Thus, Pleasure sales fell 141,604 units in FY24. Although the Ola S1 electric scooter lies at number ten on the list, it was the most improved YoY among them. Its share of the in top 10 scooter sales list stood at 6.30%.
