Hollywood doesn’t always win at the Indian box office, but **Project Hail Mary** is rewriting the rules. Ryan Gosling’s sci-fi survival film is quietly doing something remarkable — and week after week, it just refuses to stop.

### Project Hail Mary 4th Friday Update: Still Flying High

The film added Rs. 1.25 crore on its 4th Friday, even as it faced direct competition from Akshay Kumar’s new release *Bhooth Bangla*. That’s an impressive hold for a standalone Hollywood film with no franchise backing. The cumulative gross at the Indian box office has now reached Rs. 73.50 crore.

### Can It Hit Rs. 100 Crore?

Analysts expect the film to close its 4th week around the Rs. 85 crore mark, adding approximately Rs. 12–14 crore across the week. More excitingly, the possibility of hitting Rs. 100 crore gross in India is very much on the cards, given the strong hold it has displayed even against new competition.

For context, the film opened to less than Rs. 3 crore on its very first day — making this kind of legs genuinely extraordinary.

### Why This Run Matters?

Space adventure isn’t a surefire genre at the Indian box office, but it has delivered some strong performers over the years, including *Interstellar* and *Gravity*. What sets *Project Hail Mary* apart is that it achieved this as a standalone film with no franchise or established brand driving it — something incredibly rare in today’s market.

The film is based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir and follows an astronaut who wakes up alone in deep space. Learn more about the [science fiction film genre on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction_film) to understand why stories like this resonate globally.
