Frenkie De Jong could be considering a move to Manchester United at long last. The Dutchman was previously unwilling to make the move to Old Trafford. But due to the frustrating situation surrounding his stay at Camp Nou, he has been forced to think about leaving the club.

According to Diario Sport, the player has told the dressing room that he could join United if the offer is right. Chelsea have also emerged as a potential option for the midfielder, and would be able to offer him Champions League football, which United won’t.

Frenkie De Jong could be on his way out of Barcelona

🚨🚨✅| CONFIRMED: Total offensive by Manchester United for Frenkie De Jong. They are confident of completing his signing next week, by making the best financial offer to both the player & FC Barcelona.@martinezferran [🎖️]

The Spanish side are yet to register Jules Kounde, and will need to free up space on the wage bill. De Jong is refusing to take a pay cut to stay at Barcelona, since he wants the club to offer their previous contract. He is still owed €20 million in wages, which is also a complication that has prevented the transfer.

As a result, a transfer away would be the best for Barcelona. But, they will have to wait for the player to make up his mind about his next destination.

They have pressured the 25-year-old into being uncomfortable, and he might finally decide to leave. The Frenkie De Jong saga has been dragging along all summer, and by the looks of things, it’ll only be resolved very close to the end of the transfer window.
