Frank Lampard backed by Chelsea despite poor form; why he MUST be given time?

Despite the recent run of poor performances, Chelsea are still backing Frank Lampard as the right man to lead the club forward, like they have all this while.

Unlike the mentality of many animated fans on the internet, the board were convinced it was important to give time to Lampard as he changed almost the entirety of the players in the squad.

Speaking on the Chelsea legend’s future at Stamford Bridge, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio, speaking on the Here We Go  podcast on Patreon, agreed that Chelsea would be giving time to Frank Lampard to turn things around.

Former Chelsea manager, and current Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was also of the opinion that managers must be given time when 9-10 players are changed in the club. However, the Englishman’s job could be in danger if results do not improve.

In the next few matches are up against Fulham, Leicester, Wolves and Leicester. Fans, along with the Chelsea board, will be hoping for positive results in all those games.

Thomas Tuchel was one of the names linked with possibly replacing Lampard as the manager of Chelsea. While he could help with Havertz and Werner performing better, considering they are all from Germany, the authorities are not in contact with the former Dortmund and PSG manager; but he has been offered to the club.

The higher powers that be at Chelsea were really disappointed after the humiliating defeat against Manchester City at home. However, no new manager is in sight, or in contention to be in charge of the dugout.

The problem with the Blues is that they changed too many players in the summer and last year, from being dominated by academy graduates to an influx of new signings, there was a massive reshape in the squad in two consecutive seasons.

While they need to sell a few players of the likes of Marcos Alonso, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Emerson, signing new players will not help the situation since the players already at the club need to settle. It took Jurgen Klopp four years to get to where they are right now, and it is quite unrealistic to assume that Lampard will be able to rebuild a top club in the span of a couple of years.

Declan Rice is still Chelsea’s top target. However, they want to first understand Lampard’s situation at the club, then turn to transfers.
