Frank Lampard is all set to become the caretaker manager of Chelsea until the end of the season. He will take over from Bruno Saltor, who oversaw the 0-0 against Liverpool a few days ago. The Spaniard was visibly upset over his former boss leaving, and Lampard will replace him to try and bring some stability to the side.

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has given Lampard’s return the here we go signal. He has also revealed that the documents are all ready for him to take charge of the first team again. And all that remains now is a club statement confirming his return.

The club’s record goalscorer, Lampard was in charge of the first team between 2019 and 2021, and guided them through their transfer ban. At the time, Chelsea had lost their best player in Eden Hazard and were unable to fully replace him.

Frank Lampard will have a bigger squad to work with this time around, and could uplift the mood in the locker room upon his return. Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole will join Lampard as part of the backroom staff.

The Chelsea board, on the other hand, will continue their search for a long-term option. Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite right now, while Luis Enrique is also being interviewed. The first round of talks has been positive, but Todd Boehly and his board want to take their time and analyse all options before making the final call.

As a result, they will take their time to decide while Frank Lampard manages the first team until June.
