Barcelona are on the verge of reaching a total agreement with Franck Kessie for a free transfer in the summer transfer window. The AC Milan midfielder will not be staying at San Siro beyond the season, and has been in talks with the Spanish giants for months.
Kessie has spent five years with the Rossoneri after joining them from fellow Serie A side Atalanta. The board was in talks with him and his agent for a potential contract extension, but they were unwilling to match his agent fee. And ultimately, it seems like he will be moving on to Camp Nou in the summer.
Franck Kessie agreement imminent with Barcelona
The Ivory Coast international has been offered a €6.5 million per season deal by Barcelona. First team manager Xavi and Yaya Toure were key in talks with the player to convince him to make the switch.
The club is preparing the final paperworks for the transfer to be completed in the coming weeks. While a total agreement has not been reached yet, the two parties are confident of finding a mutual solution in the coming weeks to finalise the deal.
AC Milan are preparing contract extensions for three of their key players to avoid the same situation as Franck Kessie. Midfielder Ismael Bennacer, forward Rafael Leao and centre-back Pierre Kalulu are next on the list for renewals for Paolo Maldini and his board.
Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Noussair Mazraoui are also expected to join Barcelona as free agents, alongside Kessie.
