Wear OS 3 has been out for a while now and though it has been made available on limited smartwatches, it has garnered a lot of positive responses. Fossil is looking to elevate its wearables and lure more customers by working closely with Google to provide an out-of-the-world experience.
Fossil’s transition to Wear OS 3 and the new app will make it easier to get rid of older features:
As per a Reddit user, u/FossilGuy1111, a representative of the smartwatch OEM has provided an update regarding the state of Fossil wearables with a recent overhaul to the smartwatch UI and the latest companion app for the wearable.
There is also a note regarding the move towards a couple of the smartwatches getting the Wear OS 3 update and the upcoming devices that will feature this update. This news is in accordance with the timeframe that the watchmaker had put out for its wearables getting the Wear OS 3 update a year ago.
The Reddit user explains the reasoning behind the new app, this was mainly done so that a new app will make it much easier to remove older features and make room for new features based on the feedback the brand has received from its users. The latest app arrives with a completely revamped UI with a smoother and simpler interface. It aligns the brand’s smartwatches to support Wear OS 3 on existing and future wearables.
A Fossil employee explained that it is closely working with Google on the new app to be able to support the new wearables software, OEMs will be able to control the experience with their own companion apps instead of having to solely depend on the Wear OS app.
The Galaxy Watch 4 Series comes with the Samsung companion app while the Pixel Watch will arrive with its own app as per a recent leak. This is not all, Montblanc’s Summit 3 wearable will have its own companion app as well.
The transition to Wear OS 3 has not been easy for Original Equipment Manufacturers but it will be worth it as it will be a much more viable competitor to Apple’s Watch and it is the best option out there for Android users as it goes hand in hand with their smartphones.
