We all know about the ongoing tussle between Apple and gaming giant epic games. This all started with epic games allowing users to make in-game purchases and subscription purchases for its games using third party payment systems.

App Store policies, however, dictate that an app hosted on the app store must use apple’s own billing system to make any transactions that involve the user.

Hence Epic Games were removed from the App Store. But Epic decided to not bend at Apple’s demands and decided to file a billion-dollar lawsuit against the Cupertino giant.

However, it looks like the effort might have backfired at Epic Games, again.

Epic Games’ lawsuit against Apple threatens the Cupertino giant with billions of dollars and could cause huge losses for the company. So Apple has been trying its best as to not let itself loose in this trial. And it seems that the scales have tipped towards the side of the Apple, at least for now.

Epic Games alleged Google to force OnlePlus out of Fortnite launcher deal - 2_TechnoSports.co.in

The high court judge, Rogers stated, “This matter presents questions at the frontier edges of antitrust law in the United States. Simply put, no analogous authority exists. The questions and issues raised in this litigation concern novel and innovative business practices in the technology market that have not otherwise been the subject of antitrust litigation.”

Apple has denied every allegation from epic, stating that it does not run a monopoly over its app store services and that it is faced with the tough competition; hence it proposes strict policies.

The Cupertino giant stated,  “We’re grateful the court recognized that Epic’s actions were not in the best interests of its own customers and that any problems they may have encountered were of their own making when they breached their agreement”.

One interesting thing to note, however, is that Microsoft is backing Epic in this lawsuit. It looks like the next years hearing will finally end the year-long tussle between Apple and epic. As to which side suffers billions of dollars, only time will tell.
