The servers will be temporarily down for maintenance and during this time new content and improvements will be added to the game. Epic Games recommends visiting their official status website for the latest on the server status.

This site provides real-time information on any issues affecting Fortnite or other Epic services. Currently, the website displays a message under the header “Downtime for v33.20 Update,” which states, “Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.” When this process is done and the servers are in working order again, that under maintenance sign should go away and the game should come back online.

This downtime can go on for a period of 2 to 4 hours as per previous updates and Epic Games’ maintenance schedule.
