May has arrived, and with it comes Fortnite’s highly anticipated Galactic Battle update. Known for its incredible collaborations, Fortnite is collaborating with the Star Wars universe to bring in another content-heavy event. Fortnite Galactic Battle Update Adds Mace Windu, Chewbacca, Mandalorians, and New Blaster Weapons
The Galactic Battle update became available on May 2, just ahead of the yearly May the 4th festivities. Like with previous Fortnite events, this update brings a ton of new content to the game to keep you engaged throughout the month. Fortnite updates often, but this one is remarkable for its size and depth. One of the highlights of the event is the introduction of Mace Windu, which is coming as a playable hero on May 8.
Players will be able to wield their iconic purple Lightsaber and utilize distinct Force powers. Mace Windu will also be a purchasable, unlockable skin. Then, on May 15, Chewbacca enters the fray with his trusty Wookie Bowcaster. Joining them will be Mandalorian heroes, bolstering the Star Wars presence in the world of Fortnite.
It is also very much a lightsaber game, but an impressive array of non-lightsaber weapons is being added to build out combat options. These are the DL-44 Blaster Pistol, the SMG-like CR-2 Blaster, the ACP Scatter Blaster, and BARM-ST12 for close combat, and the DLT-19 Blaster Rifle for mid-range battles.
For long-range precision, players can use the IQA-11 Marksman Blaster Rifle. The A280-CFE Blaster Rifle offers a balanced all-purpose option. Several fan-favorite weapons have also been unvaulted, including the DC-15 Heavy Blaster, the Empire’s standard-issue E-11 Blaster, and the First Order’s F-11 Blaster. With new characters, weapons, and gameplay experiences, the Galactic Battle update promises to be one of Fortnite’s most exciting Star Wars-themed events yet.
