Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar is pushing for a return to Brazil. The player is keen on joining Flamengo, and wants an immediate release from Chinese club Shanghai.

While he won’t be able to earn the same wage back in South America, he is ready to accept a lower salary to join Flamengo. The amount that has been agreed on is the same that striker Gabigol earns at the club as of right now.

Talks about a return didn’t always go positively, and the Brazilian side were quite reluctant to discuss the transfer due to the finances. But now, it is becoming more realistic for the midfielder to play in his home country once again.

Dorival Júnior is quite happy about the development of the transfer. He is familiar with Oscar and will be very satisfied with the kind of quality that he can bring in midfield. As a result, Flamengo will have one of the best squad depths in the league to build off of.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between agents have been taking place since the last two weeks. And now, a contract until January 2023 is being discussed for the player. It is still a long way off, but feelings are positive for the move to go through.
