Eighty days, three cities, one emotional showrunner packing her bags to finally go see her kids. That’s how *Forever* Season 2 closed out production — and Netflix’s beloved teen romance is about to prove that “first love” doesn’t always mean “forever,” at least not in a straight line.

## Forever Season 2: Filming Has Officially Wrapped

Production on Season 2 ran from May 8 to August 28, 2026, spanning Los Angeles, Martha’s Vineyard, and New York. Creator and showrunner Mara Brock Akil shared an emotional update on Instagram: “We just wrapped season two of *Forever*. God is good… 80 days we’ve been producing this from LA to New York.” Co-star Karen Pittman also posted a heartfelt wrap message, reflecting on the long hours and time away from family that come with television production.

## What’s Different This Time

Season 1 of [Forever](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forever_(2025_TV_series)), loosely based on Judy Blume’s landmark 1975 novel, was praised as a love letter to Los Angeles, following Black teens Keisha and Justin through their first relationship. Season 2 skips ahead significantly.

| Detail | Season 1 | Season 2 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Timeline | 2018, high school | 2023, four years later |
| Setting | Los Angeles | LA, Martha’s Vineyard, New York |
| Status of Keisha & Justin | Together, then apart | Unexpectedly reconnect as adults |
| Central Question | Can first love last? | Can exes really be friends? |

## Who’s Back (and New)

**Lovie Simone** and **Michael Cooper Jr.** return as Keisha and Justin, joined again by **Wood Harris**, **Karen Pittman**, and **Xosha Roquemore**. New additions include **Malaika Guttoh** as a series regular playing Ameena, plus recurring roles for **Avery Wills Jr.** and **Tre McBride**.

## When Can You Watch It?

Don’t expect a 2026 drop. With an 8-episode order and post-production typically taking 6–8 months, *Forever* Season 2 is scheduled for a **2027 release**, most likely landing in spring or summer.
