After all the speculation surrounding Real Madrid and their potential quest to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, it looks like the deal is off.

What’s more, Florentino Perez has informed Carlo Ancelotti that he will have to make do with the players currently at the club, along with returning loanees. Radio Marca reports that the president informed his board members of his decision to make no new signings this summer.

The only arrival for Madrid so far has been David Alaba from Bayern Munich. The Austrian international arrived on a free transfer, but is one of the highest-paid players at the club with a salary worth €12 million per season. And with this decision, it looks like he will be the only new addition to the club’s first team this summer.

Real Madrid are currently in a difficult financial position, having reported losses worth €300 million. However, they have still made a net profit worth over €800,000. They have already let go of their skipper, Sergio Ramos and look set to sell Raphael Varane to Manchester United as well.

Returning loanees Luka Jovic, Gareth Bale, Takefusa Kubo, Jesus Vallejo, Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard could all be given a realistic chance in the first team next season. Things haven’t been looking very bright for them in terms of securing regular playing time, but the absence of signings could prove to be a boon for them instead. Youth players getting promoted can also be a viable solution to the problem for Ancelotti.
