Flipkart’s independent value-driven platform, 2GUD, has introduced a new service on Friday called ‘2GUD Local’ to connect popular offline retailers scattered across the country with online shoppers with long-format videos engaging narratives highlighting the products and services they offer.
Flipkart’s new service aims to enable local stores, including single brand or multi-brand stores and other shopping destinations and retailers, to expand their digital footprint by connecting more effectively with their consumers.
According to an official press release on Friday, the Flipkart-owned platform will also assist the various local retailers in cataloging, consumer fulfillment, advertising, and marketing. The local retailers will also be granted access to additional sales channels and new geographic locations via 2GUD Local for consumer acquisition.
The first of many such digital events kicked off on Friday on the 2GUD app at 4 PM. It showcased the KLM Fashion Mall in Bengaluru’s home city, wherein customers got a chance to shop sarees starting from Rs. 399. With the worldwide pandemic making people increasingly cautious about their outings, 2GUD will host similar events in the coming days and weeks as the company looks to build their new project, 2GUD Local, into a service that will enable users to shop from their favorite local outlets while being in the comfort of their homes.
According to BeeBom, Chanakya Gupta, Head of 2GUD, said while announcing the launch of the new service: “We have launched 2GUD Local to help local brands leverage traffic on our already-popular marketplace and take their offerings to a pan-India market. We look forward to partnering with more local partner brands and serving consumers across the country in times when social distancing is of utmost importance.”
Flipkart has claimed that 2GUD currently covers more than 600 product segments, as it offers both new and refurbished products. The platform has over a million consumers across more than 15,000 PIN codes in India.
