Lille winger Jonathan Ikone is reportedly set for a move to Serie A club Fiorentina. According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, he has already accepted a contract proposal from them.
The player will leave the Ligue 1 champions in the January transfer window. The transfer fee for the winger is around €15 million, and will be confirmed when the negotiations have been completed between the two clubs. He will be joining the Italian club on a long-term contract.
This season, Ikone has managed to score only twice in 21 appearances across all competitions. Last year, he found the back of the net seven times and provided the same number of assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
The 23-year-old’s contract expires in June 2023, and Lille would have had to sell him in the summer at the latest, to avoid losing him for free. But with a market value at €25 million, it seems like they could have agreed a higher fee for Ikone.
The player has featured for the French national team four times since making his debut in 2019, and has scored once for them. Since the European qualifiers in October 2019, he has not managed to get selected again in Didier Deschamps’ team.
A move to Fiorentina for the winger means that they will have a better squad to compete with next year. Dusan Vlahovic is set to leave, and will earn them a handsome transfer fee that they can use to bolster other parts of the attack as well.
