Manchester City have agreed a deal with Leeds United to sign talented youngster Finley Gorman. The 15-year-old will join for a transfer fee that is the highest for a player of his age. The Championship club will receive a fee worth £5 million including add-ons, which will become active should he fulfil his potential.
Gorman gathered a following on Twitter for uploading videos of his freestyle skills, and looked set to become a bright star down the line. Now, he will become a new signing for the City Football academy where he could develop himself alongside several other talented English youngsters.
Finley Gorman to sign for Manchester City academy from Leeds United
City scouts had been following the youngster for a long period before finalising a deal for him. He was seen as a generational talent similar to Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Jadon Sancho. And as a result, they had to go in and sign them to their academy.
Whether or not Finley Gorman will break into the first team is another story altogether. At 15, he will have to work his way up the youth teams before potentially getting a chance. However at Leeds, he already played with the Under-18s, in spite of being 15 years old.
As a result, there is no predicting his future just yet. But, Manchester City certainly believe they have made a massive investment with the coup for Gorman.
