Finally, AMD conquers 30% market share according to the latest Steam Hardware survey

Good news, AMD fans, for your excitement and preference of choosing AMD processors over Intel has made AMD conquer the 30% market share in the Steam Hardware survey.

It all started with “Ryzen” back in 2017, and AMD became the market leader in CPU sales with Zen 2 based Ryzen 3000, and since then, there has been no look back.

The only complaint gamers had with AMD was the poor single-core performance, and AMD made it the best with Zen 3, now both gamers and professionals are opting for AMD Ryzen more than ever! Unfortunately, Intel’s newer Rocket Lake-S desktop processors have failed to match AMD’s popularity, efficiency, multi-core performance and compatibility options.

So, it was coming, and finally, AMD has officially reached a 30% market share in Steam’s May Hardware Survey. While AMD managed 29.54% of the CPU share last month, Intel only managed to keep it 70.46%, with an overall gain of 0.46% share compared to May.

Now, you have a more even 70:30 ratio for Intel and AMD respectively and as the market stands if Intel’s Alder Lake aren’t convincing enough, this trend will continue.

In the consumer gaming Windows PC space, you see Intel CPUs are getting demolished by strong AMD shipments in key areas like the 3.3 GHz to 3.69 GHz range and 3.0 GHz to 3.29 GHz range.

However, the most interesting part is the high-end desktop CPUs part i.e. the 3.7 GHz and above range, where we see AMD gaining as much as 0.31%, now AMD holding 15.06% share whereas Intel only having 4.95% of the share.
