EA Sports’ mobile game, FIFA Mobile had a unique feature of supporting Adidas GMR. It integrated the physical and gaming side of football in a way that hadn’t been done before.

But sadly, FIFA Mobile has now announced that from 30th September 2021 Adidas GMR will no longer be supported by the app. However, the GMR owners can connect to FIFA Mobile until that date to keep earning special rewards.

The FIFA Mobile Team wrote on their official website:

“We are sad to announce that on September 30th 2021, adidas GMR will no longer be supported by FIFA Mobile. All GMR owners can still connect to FIFA Mobile – earning special rewards – until that date.”

“With GMR, adidas integrated the physical and gaming side of football in a way that hadn’t been done before. We’re proud to have collaborated on such an impressive product, but the events of the last 12 months since launch have made it difficult for players to truly connect through the physical side of the game in a way that this technology deserves.”

“The decision was not easy, as our development teams and operational staff have poured their hearts into GMR. It is difficult to see this happen, but the pandemic has made it very difficult for players to truly physically connect with the game as the technology intended. Following all of the uncertainty over the last 12 months and with an unclear road ahead, we’ve decided that now is not the right time for GMR.”

“However, GMR players will still be able to raise their game by using the football performance tracking and reading capabilities through the adidas GMR app, which will stay live through 2022.”

“Thank you to the GMR community – we hope to see you on the pitch again soon.”
